AI Readiness Audit.

Before you spend money on an AI pilot, find out whether your data, your systems, and your team are actually ready for one. Four to six weeks. Senior-led. A clear roadmap your team can act on this quarter.

1 · Who this is for

A great fit if you're…

  • An SMB doing $2M to $50M in revenue, hearing "we should be using AI" from your board, investors, or your own gut, and unsure where to start without burning budget
  • Your customer, ops, and product data lives across a CRM, a warehouse, and a shelf of spreadsheets that don't talk to each other
  • You'd rather have a prioritized roadmap before you spend a dollar on a pilot or a new platform
  • You want a senior data leader's read on your situation, not a templated assessment from a junior consultant

Probably not a fit if…

  • You already have a head of data and a modern data platform in place
  • You've already picked a use case and want to start building. Look at the Rapid AI Pilot instead
  • Your question is more analytical than operational. Look at Targeted Analytics for Growth
  • Your "AI initiative" doesn't have an executive sponsor or a budget line

Not sure? Take our free 2-minute AI assessment. You'll get a clear read on whether the audit is the right next step.

2 · What you get

Five concrete deliverables. Built to be acted on, not filed.

Every audit ends with the same five things in your hands. No "executive insights." No tier-3 PowerPoint. Things your team can use to brief leadership, evaluate vendors, and decide what to build first.

1

Data & systems inventory

A plain-English map of every system holding meaningful data: CRM, marketing tools, product analytics, financial, ops. What's there, who owns it, how clean it is, what depends on what.

2

Integration assessment

Where your systems should be talking to each other but aren't. Ranked by which connections would unlock the most leverage for your team, with effort estimates and risk notes.

3

Prioritized use-case roadmap

Three to five concrete AI use cases scored by impact, effort, and risk. Each one has an owner, a rough timeline, and an ROI estimate so you know which to chase first and which to skip.

4

Practical AI guardrails

A starter AI policy tailored to your business. What data can go into AI tools, what can't, who approves what, how to vet vendors. Plain language; ready to adapt and adopt this quarter.

5

Leadership readout

A 60-minute working session walking your leadership team and (if you want) your investors or board through the findings. You leave with confident answers to "where are we, and what should we do next?"

3 · Timeline

Four phases. 4 to 6 weeks total.

We move at your team's pace, but never longer than six weeks. Most SMB audits land at four.

Audit phases

From kickoff to roadmap in your hands

  1. 1

    Weeks 1–2 · Discovery

Interviews with leadership, ops, and system owners. System walkthroughs. Inventory of what data lives where.

  2. 2

    Week 3 · Assessment

Integration gaps mapped. Data quality scored. Governance questions surfaced. We bring our findings to a working session.

  3. 3

    Weeks 4–5 · Use cases

We identify and score concrete AI use cases with your team. Impact, effort, risk, ROI estimate, and who would own each.

  4. 4

    Week 6 · Readout

Final roadmap delivered. Leadership and (optional) investor or board readout. Your team owns every deliverable.

4 · Price

Fixed fee. Senior-led, end to end.

We don't bill by the hour and we don't pad scope. You'll know the number before you sign.

AI Readiness Audit

$35,000 to $45,000

Fixed fee. Includes all five deliverables, the leadership readout, the optional investor or board readout, and the 60-day check-in.

  • Final price set after a 30-minute scoping call
  • Two installments: kickoff and final readout.
  • No hourly billing, no scope creep, no surprises
5 · What happens after

The audit ends. Your team owns it.

We're not in the business of writing strategies you can't execute or getting locked in as a permanent fixture. Here's what week seven looks like.

Everything is yours

All deliverables are written for your team to use, not us. The data inventory, the AI guardrails, the use-case roadmap. They're editable, plain-English, and don't depend on us being on call.

If you're ready to act

Most SMBs pick one use case from the roadmap and move into a Rapid AI Pilot next. If the highest-value question is analytical, Targeted Analytics for Growth may be the better fit. Optional, separately scoped.

A 60-day check-in is included

Sixty days after the readout, we get on a 30-minute call with your team to see how you're tracking against the roadmap. No hidden invoice. It's part of every audit.

FAQ

Common questions.

How much of our team's time does this take? +

Plan on three to five hours per week from your COO or ops lead, plus a one-hour interview with each system owner. We do the heavy lifting.

Do we need a head of data to act on the output? +

No. The roadmap is written for the operator, not the engineer. Most of our SMB clients act on it with their existing ops, product, or engineering leads. If you'd like senior data leadership on the side as you execute, look at Fractional Data Leadership.

Will you recommend new software for us to buy? +

Only if it's clearly the right call. We're vendor-neutral, we don't take referral fees, and our default recommendation is to use what you already have. When new software is genuinely needed, we'll say so and explain why.

Can our investors or board see the readout? +

Yes. The investor or board readout is included in the fixed fee. Many of our SMB clients use it as part of their next quarterly board meeting. We've found this is often the most valuable hour of the engagement.
